If you’re interested in sharing, how much do you pay per month on car
insurance
? Right now I pay $170/month for both cars with full coverage. I’m 29, live in Greenville SC, haven’t gotten a ticket since I was 17. I did have a claim on my insurance in October 2015, during the worst month of my life. So, what’s everyone else looking at?
![]() 03/18/2019 at 08:49 |

About ~$175 per month for all three. Longbed insurance is suspended and just turned “on” by m agent when I take it for a ride every week or so. I think I only pay like $24 per month for it.

I don't know but my parents keep reminding me that it's gonna be very expensive, which is why they're making me hold off on getting a license because Florida law dictates that every license driver must be insured even if they get it and don't end up driving at all or often, RIP

$7000+ a year. or $5200USD

what you pay a month, i pay per year.

free cause you pay for mine :)

Why is it so inexpensive? Old car, minimum coverage?
![]() 03/18/2019 at 08:57 |

Damn, I think you remember telling me that it was that much.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 08:58 |

That’s not bad at all. You have full coverage on everything?
![]() 03/18/2019 at 08:58 |

3rd party, fire & theft
basically bomb insurance. haven’t needed to claim in years helps too

156.48 for e30 and e28 liability only because M ichigan and speeding tickets.

I have no idea how much my parents paid for mine, I know I didn’t contribute. It’s sort of a catch-22 for you to help, you have to have a job to pay but you have to have a car to get a job.

how much do you pay for registration though?
last time it cost me just shy of AUD$700
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:00 |

Haven’t check since I’ve added the Cobalt, but I think we’re somewhere around $600-$700 per year. That’s for three not all that valuable vehicles, liability only. Bike’s are liability as well and come it at roughly $250 a year.

that’s extortion!

It varies state to state, I paid right around $1000 for property taxes for both cars last year in South Carolina.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:01 |

I pay about $900/year total for full coverage on my 2012 Fiat and less than full coverage on my 25 year old Miata. For reference, I’m a 33 year old in Pennsylvania and my only insurance claim was when my Civic was flooded in a hurricane. But that was when I lived in NC.

~$320/mo in the People’

Welp, so far I’m winning I think. I hav e Geico and a few options above state minimum. I pay abut $300 every 6 months, so $50 a month.
I'm 22 in Ohio, one ticket, driving a total shitbox.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:03 |

Liability and UIM on the pickup only. I don't think it's worth enough to add collision and comp.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:03 |

Pretty much. We must buy our insurance from a crown corporation (up to the first $200K liability).
I buy all cover from them as private insurers still consider me a "young driver" last time I checked was in September.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:03 |

I pay $660 every six months on the 02, Ranger, and Grom. I have a separate policy on the M3 and it’s $410 every six months. There is an additional separate policy on my wife’s Forester, but I don’t know how much it is because it’s lumped in with the mortgage, and other bills when my wife says, “this is how much bills are this month.”
All vehicles have full coverage. I’m 34. I’ve got lots of citations , but I always go and plead them down to a no points violation so I have no points and haven’t for a long time.

€87/month for all risk (our equivalent of full coverage) on the Twingo, because I only have a car registered to my name since early last year. €4.62/month for liability only on the W126 500SE, because it’s a classic and it has a limit of 5000km a year.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:08 |

I pay $146 a month for 4 cars. 2 of them do not have comprehensive. 43 years old and single with Geico. My driving record is not great, but I don’t have any incidents in the past 7 years.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:11 |

That’s not terrible, I think that’s about what I pay on the M3 for 6 months, I know it’s cheaper than my 328i to insure.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:12 |

It helps to drive cars with not much power. The Fiat is a 7 year old economy car, and Miatas are cheap to insure. My insurance is through Erie Insurance because that’s what my family has always used so that’s what I use.
Not making claims makes a huge difference. For comparison, my girlfriend (31) pays about $1,900 per year on her 2006 Civic because she’s had a few claims. I also need to help her out because she has too much coverage on her old car. I want her to drop to liability only because that car is garbage.

Most of that $660 is the 02. It’s insured for double what I paid for it. The Grom and Ranger are super cheap.

Exactly. So I'm kinda stuck as of right now. What I might do though is work at Disney because my friend works there and he knows someone who's like high up in the "ranks" I guess and he'll see what he can work out. He said he'd drive me there with him. Only thing I can see going wrong is different shifts or sick days.

Paying property taxes on cars makes no sense to me. That's how it was in NC but in PA the annual registration is like $35, and no taxes on the cars you drive.

31 2 cars, one full coverage 1 liability, 300k/100k additional pip, one accident on record (clipped a parking lot low pole when reversing) bundled with home insurance $150/month. Apparently the rates in my county are higher because part of it borders the Canadian Border.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 09:36 |

Around $150/month for both cars - the fintail is a small part of that with its Hagerty policy. The modern car has full coverage. I am not too far past 40 with a clean record, but I live in a high cost of living area with far too many marginal drivers on the road.

38, married, wisconsin, no tickets or accidents.
$585/year for the Saab 9-7x (~$50/mo)
$919/year for the SS (~$77/mo). I did opt for the “Better Car Replacement”

Roughly 2k per year for a 2010 Corolla and a 2015 Civic with full coverage. No insurance points or accidents. And this is with the bundle discount for homeowners. Wife and I are both 42.

Yup. Got a ticket about 3 years ago but that got lowered to no points. Only other ticket was 13 years ago (no points). One not at fault accident in not my car about 8 years ago. I think it’s just an adjustment for my area. Towards the end of last year we had a rash of car break ins. Mostly people who left cars unlocked or windows down but broken windows for people who left electronics in view.

160 per month for the 2001 996, 2012 turbo beetle, and my wife’s 2013 Ford C-Max. We’ve got Geico.

About 300/month for full coverage on an AMG, a normal Mercedes, and a 1200cc Ducati, plus renter’s. 32, a few speeding tickets (that really can't be surprising to anyone), living in a major metro with a lot of idiot drivers.

Full coverage on two autos (14 Sportwagen and 16 RAV4) runs me about $150 per month and insurance on my motorcycles (1 full coverage, 2 liability only) runs $175 a year.
I live in Missouri, and we have occasional hail storms and floods but not super-regular so it keeps insurance premiums reasonable. I’ve had 1 weather claim in the last few years but no accident claims.

I’m 28 y/o. Golf R is $815 every 6 months for full coverage in Los Angeles, CA.

I don’t track per month but it comes to almost $2000/yr for me to ensure a ’95 Sierra and a ’95 Mustang in Mi chigan , and that’s without collision coverage. Two grand down the drain, just to keep some papers in the glovebox.

I actually just got off the phone with our agent as our policy renews this month.
It just went down to ~290 a month from ~340 a month. This is probably because my wife just turned 25 and maybe paying off my car last y

.
$1k deductible/
comprehensive
.
2015 WRX & 2018 Civic Hatch. No accidents, and I had a ticket dismissed a bout 3 years ago.

The bug is about $70 a month. I should probably shop around because that is high for how little the car is worth.
The Ferrari is around $700 a year. Agreed value and some other perks but limited to 3000 miles a year with a no commuting clause.
29, no tickets or accidents on record *knocks on wood*
![]() 03/18/2019 at 11:41 |

$209 a month for a 2006 Subaru Legacy. 2 million liability, plus collision and comprehensive, but those both have a $300 deductible. No at-fault accidents or tickets for all 8 years I’ve been driving, so I have a 30% discount. Usually by additional discount each year matches with how much they’ve increased rates, so my costs stay the same.
When the 1997 Blazer was my main vehicle, it was only $175 or so a month. The Subaru is better on gas, but the extra insurance cost almost makes that irrelevant.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 12:05 |

That is still not too bad. When I was 25 and looking at an E60 M5, all my quotes were in the 270-300+ range per month.
I think most collector car policies are pretty cheap because the average owner drives the car once a month, in perfect conditions, to go get ice cream haha
![]() 03/18/2019 at 12:18 |

Just a thought, you might look at Hagerty for the 02. I did that last year when I “rented” my truck to the BBC for a day, because Hagerty allowed that kind of thing, and seems to “get” classics in a way that a normal car insurance policy doesn’t
. It worked out anyway because it’s quite a bit cheaper (on a vehicle that was already cheap)
and the agreed value thing is better done. Like, if the truck burned to the ground tomorrow I’d get whatever the agreed value is, in a check.
Anyway, just a thought.

Thanks for the reminder – just emailed an All State agent who had given a quote that looked pretty promising to provide more info.
Right now we’re with Geico. I’m 34, wife is 30. We have 3
cars with full coverage, pay ~$750 every 6 months. The price has been slowly climbing
recently, although we keep driving less and less. Especially with only 1 of us
commuting now. Time to get serious about comparing options and threaten to jump
ship if they can’t match the competition.
Anyone tried Metromile or any of the other usage based insurance policies? I’m not the “big brother is watching you” type but any concerns about them having a device on your car to track mileage?
![]() 03/18/2019 at 13:17 |

Too much, probably. I need to shop around sometime this year.
I pay about $120/mo for the 997.2, WK, and Integra non-op. Switching to an AV restricted policy on the 997.2 is a total non-starter, because it’s a fantastic road-tripper.
That’s 35+ bracket, zero points, zero tickets, zero moving violations, zero at-fault accidents, one no-fault comp claim 7 years back.
![]() 03/18/2019 at 13:42 |

$127/month (paid annually), comprehensive/collision on two cars with two drivers (36 & 27) . $500 deductible (comp/collision), full glass, and rather high limits. According to the docs, my car is safer than hers, but is more expensive to repair, with a total cost of $10 less per year overall.
I live in a top-10 state for car accidents in the area where most of them happen, so I think that’s pretty good. It more than doubled when I moved up here from CA.

Corvette and Crosstour together run about $1050 every 6 months for me, full coverage on both, one driver (not me) as 1 at fault accident and I have a speeding ticket from 3 years ago. 2 glass claims on a 0 Deductible glass policy, perfect credit on Progressive without their silly big brother module.
Deductibles however vary depending on glass, comprehensive, or collision, but range between 0 for glass and $1000 for collision on one car.

I pay $980 every 6 months so $1,960 per year or $163 per month for a 2011 Toyota Camry Le four cylinder, no tickets, no accidents where they had to pay out but I’m 24, male and on Medicaid.
